Tap files are exchanged between operators efficiently and electronically via several means as recommended by the GSM association. However, EDCH offers a number of options for data transfer. Clients can choose any one of the following options.
l VPN-EDCH have implemented a new data transfer network based on VPN's-Virtual Private Networks. EDCH will be able to accommodate the pace of business by linking Clients into extranets where EDCH will be able to provide all Clients with access to network resources including legacy systems which will be architectured based on industry leader CISCO standards to support its growth in data transfer volumes and the data files secure.
l X.25/FTAM protocols - Connectivity through public X.25 networks or dedicated leased Circuit (64 Kbps). Exchange of TAP files using FTAM protocols (OSI standard)
l Internet Protocol - The exchange of TAP data using TCP/IP (FTP)
l Internet Email system - This is also used as a back up process to EDI
l Courier Mail - Used primarily for backup in case of communication failure or when exchanging CDR files for new operators undergoing initial testing.

In case of computer failure/miscommunication in the Client's side EDCH offers the option of a Data Pulling Mechanism, ensuring the constant flow of data for processing.
